Man faces 5 years for severing woman's legsBy Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 25-year-old man faces five years in prison after a crash that severed a Portland woman's legs.
Timothy Sauer pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of intoxicants and assault for the accident last October that resulted in double amputation for Yvonne Smith. Sauer admitted he took a mix of prescription drugs after drinking and smoking marijuana before hitting a parked car that slammed into Smith while she was putting some clothing into the trunk of her car. The 47-year-old Smith has been struggling to recover, and learn to walk again with prosthetic legs. |
