Viewers to Schram: Quit promoting immorality
By Ken Schram
Violent video games are a social scourge.
I heard a lot of that after saying that people just need to take a deep breath and relax instead of getting all wound up over the release of “Grand Theft Auto IV." (Read earlier commentary at this link.) Juliana Crawshaw writes: "We (try to) set good examples for youth, but you are promoting that we set them up for immorality and depravity." Barry Adams: "Only a fool would turn their back (on violent video games) and pretend (they) won't hurt our society. Guess what that makes you?" Sheldon Koehler: "We actually do need to keep games like this off the shelf because they do end up in the hands of kids under 17. ... With stupid parents, you end up with stupid kids." Loren Brandt: "To state that these forms of ... entertainment do not impact children is just plain stupid. Ever heard the term 'garbage in garbage out'? You put junk in the mind, you get junk out ... and clearly Ken, you haven't been watching you mental diet." Beth Vavrousek: "It's not about being a do-gooder or a nun. It's about being a responsible adult." And finally, from Dennis Struck: "I think we need Tim Eyman to petition KOMO to get you another job in the company. Something you're better suited for, like janitor." Well, time for me to go sweep up. Thanks for writing everyone. Have a good weekend. |
